The Emmy-award nominated team behind Emily in Paris have announced their plans to launch a spin-off series – Emily in Myanmar.

The series will depict vlogger and influencer Emily Cooper using the learning experiences she gained in series 1 to tackle an even bigger dilemma – world peace – in the hotly anticipated second season of “trash embodied”.

Instead of using her talents to transform a local marketing agency, this time Emily will be tackling human rights abuses in the region, with the opening episode featuring an Instagram campaign to end the systematic rape of the Rohingya, and a livestream on cancel culture in reference to the military coup.

Her bestie from the first series, fun-loving nanny Mindy Chen, will be replaced with Aung Sang Suu Kyi, the elected leader of Myanmar and erstwhile figurehead for human rights, who has fallen from grace after enabling the genocide in the Rakhine region. In what is being called “a screen friendship to rival Will and Grace”, the two apparently bond over the experience of being denigrated for their receipt of international awards – Emily for her Emmy nomination, and Aung San Suu Kyi for her Nobel Peace Prize.

The leaked trailer for the series shows Emily arriving in Myanmar in a marked military vehicle, before a dolly shot of Emily attending a cocktail party in Nay Pyi Taw.

Principal photography is expected to take place following the conclusion of the ongoing coup.
