Boris Johnson has reportedly fired his PR team after their second social media fiasco in under two weeks – this time involving a self-tape the PM released on Twitter.
Announcing his imminent self-isolation, the Prime Minister uploaded a two minute video to the social media giant, revealing that he had been contacted by test and trace after a meeting in Downing Street with the infected MP Lee Anderson.
However, the announcement was marred by the unfortunate angling of the shot – which directly channelled the kind of POV fellatio videos made popular by the rise of amateur porn.
Given some of the euphoric expressions contained within the video, it is unclear whether the original video was layered over the audio recording of the PM’s isolation speech, or whether the editorial team had simply intercut Mr Johnson’s self footage with an existing video project intended for a different audience by mistake.
This is the second time in a fortnight that Mr Johnson’s PR team have accidentally repurposed incriminating content for public usage – following last week’s embarrassing incident, in which Boris’s congratulatory message to President-elect Joe Biden was revealed to have been layered over a duplicate template intended for Donald Trump.
The notion that the video was originally intended for more nefarious purposes is also corroborated by the misspelling of “aides” as “AIDS”, on the now-deleted subtitled version, and the existence of a pay-per-view channel simply entitled “BJs for BJ”, which has been gaining traction over recent weeks.
